Gorthrax by OEVRLORD Gorthrax by OEVRLORD
So, making characters seems to be quite a trend these days, and since that is the case, I made one; Gorthrax, the traitor guardsman.

Here's a little info:

Gorthrax was once a storm trooper in service to the Imperial Guard. He was a violent, unstable soldier, aggressive to even his own teammates. He wasn't trusted by them, and they often jokingly remarked about how one day he was going to snap. Regardless of that, it was still quite a surprise when he shot dead the last two members of his squad.

Gorthrax doesn't use guns any more. He normally uses a sword, but has a fondness for ordinance as well. As a storm trooper, he is well trained in a number of battlefield operations. Gorthrax once carried a Hellgun, but as its power pack was damaged, it was discarded.

Gorthrax is a mute. After being shot in the face by an imperial flamer, his damaged lungs and throat prevent him from being able to communicate verbally. Thankfully, he was smiled upon by Khorne, and gifted a daemonic mask, masterfully crafted in brass. The mask allows him to speak again, though in the otherworldly voice of the daemon bound into it.

Gorthrax is flawlessly devoted to Khorne. It's expressed in his personality and his violent actions.

Took a few hours, maybe six or so. One layer, as usual.

I'd like to see more of the Cultist in the Warhammer 40k setting. Chaos Space Marines are substantially persistent enemies, so why not add in a Dark Mechanicus Codex?

His armour is certainly worth the violence.

Now, is Gorthrax from one of the "stormtrooper" squads that's sort of put together piecemeal from veterans whose squads are so mangled they can't operate as squads anymore, or is he from one of the stormtrooper squads trained at the Scholam alongside the Commissars? What regiment was he paired up with, the Savlar Chem-Dogs? What exactly did he do to earn the favor of Khorne?

I actually wouldl ike to know these things. 40k lends itself to character creation so well :D

Hm, let's see. Given his attitude, something I'd assume any formal stormtrooper training would have ironed out, I believe he'd be just a venerable member of a regular guard unit, given some kind of elevated status by recognition of prowess, among other factors.

Gorthrax is from the Morbidian Skull Takers regiment. I haven't thought of any reason for why Khorne would give him something and not just leave him alone.

His condition is something the Commissar would have picked up on, which mean of course that he must've died before the trauma that sent Gorthrax down this path (or his death may have been the trigger). That would mean that his original regiment must've been in a constant state of active duty for years without proper reinforcement, hence no Commissarial replacement.

Oftentimes the Chaos Gods do things without any clear reason, or no reason at all.

I'm considering maybe putting this guy in one of my Deathwatch campaigns, with your permission, of course.

He would have defected off-world, as there would be no escape from Imperial justice if he's have done it at home. Given that the Morbidian Skull Takers are undergoing some kind of 'cultural adjustment' with the Imperial Cult, it would be difficult to say whether he would even have the opportunity to do so at home.

His commissar's death was what essentially unleashed him, since he no longer had a lasgun pointed at his face whenever he acted improperly. Then things would have gone downhill.

Yes, you are free to use him.
