Soulless One by OEVRLORD Soulless One by OEVRLORD
You may notice that this one is a little bit different to my usual pencil drawings. The contrast is much higher. I achieved this in GIMP 2.7, by using the 'White Balance' function.

This image was a bit of a bugger to draw. I'm not used to drawing Necrons, and so I had a hard time doing the legs. These ones are about the fifth ones I did, and they're still not perfect. Then the scanner cut off part of the image, and I had to reconstruct a little bit of one of the scarabs on the computer. I am quite happy with the head, though.

Your shadings are way to awesome....
But one thing is... the top part of the necron... seems a bit to fat/wide?

Yeah. I'm not that great at drawing Necrons. My intention was to make him seem more alien, if I recall. I just don't think I did it the way I wanted.

Fantastic work. You did a great job on the shading, as well as making him look so menacing.

good job on the head , though i think the proportions are a tad off. That white balance really adds alot of contrast to the pic, grea job, as usual.

The proportions are one thing that this image is picked up on a lot. I spent too much time on it to do it again, though. I like the head as well. Thanks again.

Shading is much better and head is very detailed but his upper bod is just ugly for me. Hands are too slim, arms too high and he's too wide.

Thank you for your constructive criticism. I also noticed that he seemed a bit too wide. Personally, I dislike the legs. I am using this new, dark shading on my new pictures.

Thank you very much. Really I just got sick of working on it. It is larger than most of my marines, and so I have to stretch my hand further to do the shading, and I ended up rushing a lot of the shading on the legs.

What do you think of the increased contrast? I am about 50% through my Garviel Loken image, and I wanted a second opinion on whether it looks good or not before I do it again.

Very good. Although I have noticed that the space between the arms is darker than the rest of the background. Are you able to lighten these areas?

I did not notice this. Thank you, I will look out for this issue in the future then. I could potentially lighten it, but I won't on this particular image, as I am well and truly knackered from working on it.
It is, of course, a by-product of the darkening effect. It's bringing out the previously erased details again, and where my hand has partially smudged the graphite.

I understand. It's a tricky balancing act. It does take me a while to edit my sketches to make them appear clen. Don't worry, it's not a problem. I was being far too picky. It's amazing work!

Thank you. On my current Loken image, I am taking particular care to remove all excess 'scratchiness' and smudging, so that this does not occur again. I need to preserve the whiteness of the Luna Wolves armour.
After this, I was going to do another Digital image. Any suggestions?

I'd love to see some Eldar work or Imperial Guard. I think you'd do a great job.

Funny you mention that, as I've been thinking a bit about Wldar lately, myself.
